The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young

The Farrow women are different. They have the gift (or perhaps the curse) to travel through time with a special family heirloom locket. June Farrow, raised by her grandmother, grew up knowing very little of her family’s history until after her grandmother's passing. When she begins to see and hear things that she knows are not real, she thinks she has completely lost her mind. That is until her grandmother’s oldest friend shows up with the mysterious family heirloom and a letter containing two words, “Trust Me”.  June takes a leap of faith and travels through time to unravel the mystery that has plagued the women of her family for generations. She learns that nothing is quite what it seems; there are mysteries to solve and decisions to make before everything falls apart. This book is available at the library and on Libby. ~ Alesia

A Forty Year Kiss by Nickolas Butler

Charlie & Viv were once married and haven’t seen each other in forty years. Charlie has returned in hopes of rekindling their romance. Sounds like a typical cheesy romance trope but that’s where you’d be very wrong. What follows is a gorgeous story of regrets, redemption, and healing. Nothing particularly exciting happens but in the hands of Nickolas Butler you can’t help but be completely immersed in their journey. He tackles hard things like alcoholism, abandonment, loneliness and poverty to name a few. Can love return forty years later with so much water under the bridge? And don’t miss the author’s note explaining the inspiration for Charlie & Viv’s story. I remember when Butler posted about it on Instagram a couple years ago. It’s been a long wait to hold the finished product in my hands but it was 100% worth it. This brand new book is available at the library.
