Happy Place by Emily Henry

A group of friends meet up at their usual cabin spot in Knott’s Harbor, Maine; just as they had been doing for all the years since they had met in college. Harriet, the doctor in the group, shows up to the cabin and finds the last person that she wanted to see, her fiancé Wyn… or ex-fiancé, that is. Unbeknownst to their group of friends, Harriet and Wyn had broken off their engagement months ago. But when two of their friends announce that they will be getting married at the end of their week together, both Harriet and Wyn decide that this isn’t the time to break the news to the group. After a week of faking their relationship, old feelings spark up again. Hard conversations are had and hearts are laid bare. This was a fun read with a great east coast vibe. Rosie Walsh is a lyrical writer. She grabs you and sweeps you up in Carrie's journey as she sets out to discover what really happened all those years ago. I loved the sense of place from the crowded streets in Thailand to the countryside of Sweden, the love story that's held Carrie captive for twelve years. This is a literary mystery with twists and turns that will keep you captivated. The author's blurb by Chris Whitaker on the back cover says it best, "A bruising and beautiful mystery." Our Perfect Storm by Carly Fortune

George and Frankie have been friends forever, at least it feels like forever because they’ve been besties since they were 8.  It's the eve of Frankie's wedding weekend and George promised he’d be there for her; however, he’s not feeling happy or excited for her pending nuptials. In fact, Frankie hasn’t seen George at all and is worried he’ll let her down and be a no show on her very special day.

On the day of her wedding, Frankie’s fiancé changes his mind and says that he can’t marry her. Frankie’s devastated and can’t understand why or what happened. In an effort to cheer her up, George not only shows up for her but he also tells her that they should use the tickets for her honeymoon destination. While they’re on vacation together, Frankie learns that George knows why her fiancé changed his mind.  She learns that he may have had something to do with it; will they be able to overcome the conflict, reconcile their friendship and be as close as they once were?
