Penelope May Dupont or Pip is incredibly organized and keeps Hugh Griffin, a popular and successful mystery author producing bestsellers.  In addition to Hugh is six other highly infamous and well-loved authors known to the literary community as the Fabulous Seven. Pip organizes a promotional cruise for the authors to share their talents and books with their adoring public. Sadly, on the second day Hugh ends up tragically dying.  Pip is grief stricken and finds she has no confidence in the “security team” on board the boat.  She decides to investigate what happened to her boss while enlisting the help of Nash, the young and handsome western author in the group.  He assists her with patience, problem solving with some affection. The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden

Sydney Shaw’s dating life was a disaster until she met the perfect guy, Tom. A handsome and charming doctor, he says and does all the right things… but when an investigation into the most recent murder in a string of killings starts to point in his direction, everything starts to unravel. Sydney doesn’t want to believe that her dream guy is a monster, but if she can’t figure out who the real killer is soon… she fears she might be next. This book kept me on my toes the whole time and the twists at the end were ones that I definitely didn’t see coming. It's a great thrilling read! Available at the library and through Libby.

The Mountains We Call Home by Kim Michele Richardson

Books are powerful. Being able to read & write opens doors and hearts and minds. In this third return to Kentucky and the world of Cussy Lovett that’s exactly the journey we’re taken on. Incarcerated for marrying outside their “race”, Cussy and Jackson are separated to serve their terms. She of course finds her way to the prison library and uses her talents as a book woman to care for her fellow inmates. There’s so much history to be learned and joy as the cast of characters Richardson creates begin to discover the freedom found in literacy. While the characters in the book may be fictional you just know their experiences are based in reality. Ultimately this was a satisfying & emotional conclusion to the Book Woman of Troublesome Creek series. It’s billed as a standalone but I highly recommend starting at the first book. Available at the library and through Libby. ~ Leslie M.

How to Get Away With Murder by Rebecca Philipson

A great debut thriller. Philipson has written a book inside of a book. A murdered teenager is found with a copy of a famous how-to guide.  Now the detective in charge will find out along with the reader all the details.  This is an author to watch. Available at the library and through Libby. ~ Leslie W.
