The Three of Us by Ore Agbaje-Williams

What a fascinating examination of the complicated dynamic between a wife, a husband, and the wife's best friend. I was completely mesmerized by this story. A short novel told in three parts, each from the perspective of the key players. Not only does it bring up the age old question of who your best friend should be once you get married, but it also sheds light on the cultural expectations of being Nigerian. This book is available through inter-library loan. ~ Leslie M.

The Bookshop by the Bay by Pamela Kelley

This is a light and fun leftover beach read from the summer. The story centers around four women, Allison & Jess (the mothers) and Caitlyn & Julia (their daughters) as they each seek a new life direction. Jess and Allison return to their beloved hometown for the summer. They learn the owner of their favorite bookstore wants to close. Since all four women are at a crossroads in their lives, Jess helps Allison buy the bookstore and adjacent coffee shop. After several life changes, the mothers and daughters find a way to reconnect with each other and have a second chance at romance. This book is available at the library. ~ Erin
