Escape! by Stephen Fishbach

A peek behind the curtain to the dark side of reality competition shows with two-time Survivor contestant turned MTV network vice president turned author Stephen Fishbach. When I heard this book was coming I immediately put it on my radar. Like countless others I’ve watched hours of “reality” television. Of course I know the term reality is very loose, but the manipulation! Whoa. Escape! takes us to the set of the fictional wilderness competition of the same name. We get the whole story from the story producer’s angle to the washed-up reality show veteran desperate to reclaim his fame. The real star of this book is Miriam the chemist. What a crazy ride full of dark humor, ambition & the desire to win the money at any cost. Or wait…is it all just for the experience? Depends which contestants you ask. This brand new book is available at the library and through Libby.

After 15 years of no contact, Lizzie is stunned by Bex’s offer for an exclusive interview, one that she desperately needs to keep her job at the magazine. Things start off well, but Lizzie quickly finds herself in over her head when Bex’s husband is found dead and Bex and her kids are nowhere to be found. Lizzie can’t bring herself to leave until she uncovers the truth. Who is Rebecca and where has she disappeared too? The truth changes everything… Available at the library and through Libby. ~Alesia
