The Barman of the Ritz by Philippe Collin
Count My Lies by Sophie Stava
Count My Lies follows Sloane Caraway, someone who can’t help but lie, even about things that don’t really matter. Through her many lies, she meets the seemingly perfect couple Jay and Violet Lockhart. She soon becomes a part of their inner circle and as Sloane becomes more involved in their lives, she begins to realize that their perfect family might not be what it seems. Throughout the story you will truly see how far someone is willing to go to keep everyone else interested in them and to keep up with all their lies. There are so many twists and turns and countless lies, that it will have your head spinning. Overall, it was a really good read, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with a lot of suspense. ~ Mary
Hollywood, Ending by John Green
John Green is back in the fiction space. His writing is so completely engaging. With this one- while billed as his adult fiction debut- I caution anyone expecting this to be about actual adults to take note. Juniper & Kai are complex characters but they are in their early 20s. They are new adults who are trying to figure out who they are while navigating life in Hollywood. They meet prepping to film a movie about Andy Warhol’s last days with superstar Matthew Malone. You really need to care about the behind-the-scenes aspects of creating a film, press junkets & the politics of the industry to sink into the story. I do find that fascinating, so I was completely engaged. Lifelong fans of Green will want to pick this one up. ~ Leslie M.
The Crescent Moon Tearoom by Stacy Sivinski
After the untimely deaths of their beloved parents, the Quigley sisters have worked together to keep the family’s fortune-telling tea shop running. The clairvoyant sisters, Anne, Beatrix, and Violet, happily spend their days reading fortunes in the tea leaves at the bottom of their customers’ cups. But their quiet lives are quickly disrupted when the Council of Witches give them a seemingly impossible task and an ultimatum; complete the task or forfeit your family’s legacy. To make matters worse, a family curse comes to light that drives the sisters apart from each other. They have to find a way to keep their family together before everything falls apart. This was a cute story of sisterhood and magic and I really enjoyed it! ~ Alesia
Let's Roll: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage by Lisa Beamer & Ken Abraham
In the spirit of the 25th anniversary of 9-11; I chose to read Let’s Roll: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage by Lisa Beamer. Lisa’s husband Todd and the other passengers onboard United Airlines Flight 93 prevented the hijackers attempt to hit either the White House or Capitol building on that fateful day in September of 2001. Instead of hitting the projected target; Flight 93 crashed in a Pennsylvania field and made all of the “ordinary” people and passengers heroes. Todd’s last known words have been used as inspiration to help us all move forward in these challenging times: past, present and future. ~ Erin
