The Bright Spot by Jill Shalvis
Luna Wright was adopted and never knew anything about her biological family. She's hired to manage the sweet but not always profitable Apple Ridge Farm. She surrounds herself with employees who become family to her in their tight knit group.
When the crusty owner Silas unexpectedly dies, Luna learns he was her biological grandfather but never bothered to tell her. She also learns from his passing that he left half of the farm to her and his young accountant and friend, Jameson Hayes.
Luna wants and needs to do everything to save Apple Ridge Farm; however, Jameson is ready to sell it. Can she convince him the farm and the staff are salvageable? This book is available at the library and through Libby. ~ Erin
Good Neighbors by Sarah Langan
Arlo and Gertie Wilde want a better life for their two kids, Julie and Larry, and settling down in a normal house on a normal street in a normal neighborhood seems to be a dream that is finally coming true for them. As they form friendships and find their place in the Maple Street hierarchy, life seems to be going well. However, life on Maple Street takes a deadly turn as a mysterious sinkhole forms in the park across the street that changes everything. As the hot and sticky days of summer slip by in a static-y haze, the residents quickly dissolve into a chaotic madness. Suburban secrets and dark pasts boil to the surface while the elusive truth seems to stay just out of reach. This weird and wild read is thought-provoking and horrifying all at once. This book is available through inter-library loan and through Libby. ~ Alesia
The Waiting by Michael Connelly
Once again I am recommending a Connelly book. It's a cold case investigation featuring Renee Ballard with Harry & Madeline Bosh. Very hard to put down because of the cases they are investigating including the Pillowcase Murderer and the highly publicized Black Dahlia murders. This book is available at the library and through Libby. ~ Bonnie
The Tenant by Freida McFadden
McFadden's latest is typically twisty. Blake and his fiancee must take in new tenant Whitney because Blake recently lost his job. Will their relationship survive Whitney's arrival? Will anyone survive? As usual McFadden is full of surprises you won't see coming right until the end. This book is available at the library and through Libby. ~ Leslie W.
My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward: A Memoir by Mark Lukach
A gut punch of a memoir written by Mark, husband to Giulia. He tells the story of their storybook romance, meeting at 18, marrying by twenty-four, living a pretty perfect looking life in San Francisco...until the shocking psychotic break that put Giulia in a psych ward. She was seemingly fine one day, happy & vibrant, then became a total stranger turning their lives upside down. Their journey is a gut punch with extreme highs and lows. If you have any interest in mental health this is the perfect choice. This memoir is available through inter-library loan and through Libby. ~ Leslie M.
