Amy Tan has created a beautiful nature journal of her personal drawings and musings of the birds observed in her own backyard over the course of six years. Her observations & thoughts are educational and amusing. This brand new book is available at the library.

The Mountain Midwife by Laurie Alice Eakes

Set in the Appalachian mountains between twisting roads and hollers. the main character Ashley Tolliver, is a very busy "baby catcher" (midwife) from a long line of catchers and healers, but she yearns for more functionality in her job that comes in the way of MD after her name.  Ashley is torn between her love for her patients and the home she has always known, or striking out again for years away at med school and possibly Mr. Right. A very sweet story with a few twists and turns throw in. I loved it! This title is available through inter-library loan. ~ Ashley

Til There Was You by Lindsay Hameroff

This is a romantic comedy involving a girl in culinary school who unexpectedly meets an aspiring musician. They have a wonderful weekend together and then he flies to Los Angeles to record his first album. He becomes an overnight sensation based on a song he wrote about the girl he met and their amazing weekend together. After graduating and getting hired in a restaurant, she doesn't hear anything from him but hears the song. Then he contacts her and she has to make the difficult decision whether to allow him back into her life to deal with his new found fame at the expense of her own hard work and dreams. Kill For Me Kill For You by Steve Cavanagh

Two women agree to kill for each other. Only things go very wrong for one of them. Add a woman who is attacked in her home by a blue eyed stranger and lives in fear. There are many twists in this story of revenge. Great thriller! This book is available at the library and on Libby. ~ Bonnie
