Close Enough to Touch by Colleen Oakley

Thoroughly entertaining, heartwarming, hilarious and just plain amazing- that is how I would describe this book.  Oakley has created three of the best characters I have been introduced to in a very long time. Jubilee Jenkins (her name alone has a certain ring to it), Eric and his adopted son, Aja will steal your heart.

The story centers on Jubilee’s extremely rare condition. She is allergic to human touch. After an embarrassing and life threatening incident in high school, Jubilee becomes a recluse, also developing agoraphobia. It is only after her mother’s death 9 years later that Jubilee is forced to find the courage to leave the safety of her home to work. Where does she find refuge and a job? At her local library, of course. The library is where Jubilee meets Eric and his remarkable son. Aja is a true original.  I dare you not to fall in love with him.

Close Enough to Touch takes you on Jubilee’s journey of healing. I promise you will laugh…and probably cry a bit too. I know I disturbed the peace in my house many times with my bursts of laughter. Anyone who really knows me will understand why I am head over heels in love with this book and it probably has something to do with Jubilee finding love in the library.
